Double Dogleg

Double Dogleg, a steep and dangerous North facing couloir that drops down into Granite Canyon. The big open snow field at the top is called the football field. After than, it has a choice of a left or right curve midway down. Either route converges back into the main chute towards the bottom. Avy danger is high, and the long exit out Granite Canyon back to the resort is threatened by other avalanche paths above it. This chute is known to form wind slabs that can surprise you midway down or really at any point on the run with a deadly avalanche. A wrong turn in this zone could send you off giant cliffs as well, as could an attempt to ski it before it's entirely filled in. Never drop into a zone in the backcountry when other people are still in it down below you. If you see fresh tracks going in, you should wait until you know the whole couloir is clear of other people, or choose another objective.
