Rush Chute
The open area skier’s left of Lift Gully. Usually the only way through the West Side cliffs that is filled in. Above the chute, the pitch is in the mid 40s in a big convex roller. This is a natural place for an avalanche to trigger. Below that, the chute through the rocks is about 40 feet long, 4 feet wide at its narrowest, and about 40 degrees. After the choke point it opens back up for a wide open exit. When the snowpack is deep there is another option called “Rush 2” just to the skier’s left of Rush, but it is rarely filled in. All in all this is a highly dangerous area to be in.
