Floral Park
These are steep Southwest to West facing trees. Go to the South side of the parking lot and hike for 5 minutes along the access road until you hit the first switchback. You could drop in at that point (watch out for deadfall early season) or you can keep going. At the 3rd switchback the bootpack usually continues on straight along the side of the hill. Go for a few more minutes before you drop in for the more open trees. The farther you go, the farther skier’s left you’ll be and the more open and steep it will be. It gets into the low 40 degrees over there. Most of the zone is in the mid to high 30s. The sun can affect this area, and avalanches are known to happen in these steep open trees. Even if they don’t sweep you too far, you would be hurt or killed by a tree at that speed.
